The Facts of Life

Jade and Jana are doing the VBS thing this week. It's not a our church, but when it comes to free half-day child care, we're pretty non-denominational.
So Luke and I are going for a stroll this morning. 2 is such a funny age. His vocabulary is growing exponentially, as is his attitude! Now when I ask him to come to me, he yells over his shoulder, "In a minute Mom!" Say wha-? Mom? It's Mommy 'till you're 6, buddy! And get your little tushie over here!
So anyway, we're walking and pass a nice garden. The plants were lovely, the decor a little over the top. Luke points at the trio of plastic deer adorning the fern patch, and shouts, "Look Mommy, cows! ALL cows! Wow! Cows!" It was hilarious! He was ready to try to feed them or something. And he would NOT be convinced they were deer. No way Jose.
On our way back we passed an apartment building with a brick facade. In between the cracks, sparrows had built there little nests. We heard a squawking and I looked up in time to see this massive black bird rush this little crevice, at which point a sparrow came flapping out, shouting something like, "HEY! Back off man!" (Loose interpretation-my sparrow is rusty.)
The black bird lands on a nearby branch and continues cawing, and the sparrow lands opposite shouting back. It was like watching The View.
Th
en, from the other side of the tree, another blackbird flew around and went straight into the sparrow's nest! :-0 Little bugger! They totally double teamed that poor little sparrow.Poor Luke-so young to learn how cruel nature can be ;)
