Tonight at tea, the girls and I were talking about differences between boys and girls. Pool maligned Luke. His antics so often begin these conversations.

As Luke stands up in the chair he has already flipped out of four times, I sighed and said something lamenting about how different boys and girls are.

Jade looked at me like I was crazy and said, "Uh, yeah, Mom. They're different genderalities..." Thanks for clearing that up "precocious" one.

I said they were different in other ways too. Jade says they have funny looking underwear. Jana says how hairy they are. I said, "You have no idea! Have you seen your dad's back?!" (Only half joking.)

Jana pipes up, "I know!! It must be like sleeping with a dog!"

Ouch! Guys just can't get break around our house...

First day back at school today. Nothing too spectacular, just a meeting. Luckily my part was over by lunch.

I don't officially have to get back to work until Aug. 18, but that whole week is filled with in-service and meetings, so my friend and I will be going back part-time next week.

Surprisingly it felt good to get back. Give it 6 weeks and I'll be singing a different tune, but for today, it was just nice to get out of the house for a little while.

Plus the state of Texas can afford to keep the building quite a bit more comfortable than my balmy home!!
