School and my lil politician

What a week. Sunday afternoon I started feeling really gross...just blah and no appetite. Very out of character believe me ;) By 7 I was in the grips (pardon the pun) of an awful stomach bug, and ended up missing Monday and Tuesday. Funnily enough the teacher next door, 8th grade History, was out as well for strep throat, which caused some problems Monday morning when I emailed her my lesson plans and vice versa! But we both made it back today.

It's so sweet coming back; I was like a mini-celebrity. Some of my most ornery students were hugging me, "Oh I'm so glad you're back" blah blah blah ;)

I am still so happy about this year. I have such a better grip on classroom management...It's just so exciting to me. I am much more comfortable, and enjoy teaching a lot more. Overall, I'm a lot more laid back...

And then there is 6th period. I don't know what it is about that time slot, but they are a hawt mess...Today only 5 students out of 23 passed an in-class, working-with-partners worksheet over conjunctions, aka as a freebie. I had to ban pencils in there because there were so many erasers all over the floor-they're throwing them at each other instead of listening to me!

Tomorrow will be fun. They are on lockdown, from here until IDK...They're going to work till there little hands fall off. I'm pretty excited actually.

In other news, Jade started Tae Kwon Do today! She looked so cute! She was pretty hesitant at first, especially since it's a mixed beginners class with ages from 5 to 14. But by the end of it, she was totally hooked.

She's also running for student council. I'm not sure what the duties would entail for a third grader (LOL) but she's taking it very seriously. She made her posters, and she's even campaigning! She told me she wants the other four people to drop out so she'll win!

She told me this afternoon she got into a "ruckus" (her word) with her desk mate after her folder accidentally strayed into his territory. After the ruckus dies down and she started working again, she sat there thinking, "Man I really want him to vote fro me..." So she turned to him and said, "I'm sorry for being rude to you earlier." He just looked at her and so "OoooKaaayyy....." But that's likely one more vote! Little schemer!!!!

Vote (118/366)

Your little girl is very clever, what is that saying?..."you get more with honey than with vinegar". I'm pretty sure that is not exactly the saying but it's the best I can do. LOL

I have a blog award for you at my blog, come by and collect it when you have a moment. :)
